Handmade boats was formed in 1982 by Mario Scianna, an Italian craftsman with a passion for wood, boats and the coastal life.

Based on Diani beach on Kenya's picturesque Southern Coast, Mario's workshop specialises in handcrafted powerboats and hotel fitouts as well as many other distinguished projects. Most recently, Mario designed Kenya's first coastal boutique hotel - The Sands at Nomad.

Mario enjoys working with a variety of woods though is best known for his work with mahogany.
